Bodegas de los Rios Prieto-4 June
4th June - Ribera del Duero is situated approximately 200k south west of Rioja.
This is a very unspoilt area of Spain and as yet not discovered by many British people. Summers here are very hot which shows itself in the wines by making beautiful full bodied reds.
Our supplier here is Bodegas de los Rios Prieto they are situated in the small picturesque village of Pesquera de Duero - 500 people live here and there are 25 Bodegas!
It was lovely to catch up with Daniel who co-owns this vineyard with his father and brothers. The Bodega is in the process of expanding with a new building being erected to store the wine and packaging etc. We stock their Roble & Crianza but today we had the opportunity to taste all the wines crafted here. The range has grown in the 3 years we have been visiting and in the future we may offer further wines from this forward thinking vineyard.
Our day was made complete by meeting the Family for a drink followed by a delicious meal of spring lamb which had been roasted slowly on an open fire. This is the traditional meal for this area and pairs perfectly with Prios Maximus Crianza
Cork count still 100% cork.
