Mushrooms in Sherry

  • 5 oz butter
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 6oz of mushrooms
  • 2 tblspns of Sherry (you could use Port instead)
  • Seasonings
  • Double cream

 

  1. Melt butter and fry onion until soft - approx. 10 minutes
  2. Add mushroom cook for 3 minutes
  3. Stir in Sherry add seasoning and simer for 5 minutes
  4. Add cream to taste – heat gently
  5. Serve hot on pieces of fried bread

 

NB: I have used this recipe since the 60’s always a crowd pleaser
