Pudding

Introduction

Use these scrummy scones either warm on there own with butter or to accompany a soup.

Oven temperature

220°c fan 200°c – 425°f – Reg 7

Steps

  1. Grate cheese and beat egg

  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, mustard powder, cayenne and black pepper

  3. Add butter and rub in so the mixture resembles crumbs

  4. Add cheese (keep a little back to sprinkle on top of scones during cooking) and stir

  5. Add milk, water and egg to the mixture and bring together to a soft dough,

  6. Flour a surface and roll out to approx. 4cm thick cut mixture with cutter.

  7. Place cut scones on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper, brush with a little egg and sprinkle saved cheddar over each scone.

  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and brown
