A weekend to relax and enjoy the restaurants in and around Paarl
Now back to work!
Today we visit the beautiful Clos Malverne Winery - please remember this name if ever you’re in the Stellenbosch area. The restaurant is situated overlooking the vines and you can enjoy a 5-course wine and food pairing menu for under £50. Money well spent for sure.
For the last couple of years, the restaurant's opening hours have been extended and they serve evening meals as well as lunches. To sit on the stoep with a meal watching the sunset behind the Simonsberg mountains. Wonderful.

There are a couple of different varieties we haven’t stocked in the past a 100% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon - so 2 glasses poured we sip but didn’t spit - that would be a waste!
2022 was a challenging year for all and sales of wine at the vineyards have fallen slightly - but everyone is buoyant and is looking at ways to diversify and encourage sales. Visitor numbers are up this year so far and therefore that is also very encouraging for the industry.
