South Africa 2024- Noble Hill Wines

The Western Cape Winelands

Lunchtime at Noble Hill Winery

Our 2024 wine-buying trip has started!

The sun is shining, and the temperature is soaring, having just flown out of the UK where the temperatures are at sub-zero - this is a bit of a shock.

Today we visit Noble Hill wines to meet up with Kristopher, the winemaker and owner.

Busy times here as the harvest has just commenced and already they have picked their chardonnay. We arrived just in time to see the grapes being crushed to make the juice which one day will be enjoyed in the Blanc de Blanc Sparkling Cap Classique made here. We taste the juice as it comes out of the pneumatic press and it is delicious -anyone would love to enjoy this with breakfast as it is full of fruit flavours but there is also a tartness that makes it so refreshing.

Back to the tasting room where we sample new vintages and catch up with news from the farm.

They have redesigned the wine labels - there are subtle changes to their trademark keys on said bottle labels - but they have just refreshed them giving them a more modern look.

Tasting over, we move onto Cosecha Restaurant – the Mexican-themed restaurant here and our starter just has to be the freshly made guacamole with tacos and the pairing has to be Noble Hill Viognier - a marriage in heaven!

A great visit and the perfect way to start our annual trip.
