Exploring the Unique Flavors of South Africa's 2024 Genevieve CC.

Updated: Apr 4

Another sunny day here and we travel to Bot Rivier for lunch and tasting at Genevieve CC

Melissa Genevieve Nelson is a lady winemaker from Bot Rivier - making a top-notch sparkling wine. Her personality is as bubbly and playful as her beautifully crafted Cap Classique.

In 2017 Melissa and her partner Leon purchased a farm in Bot Rivier which has become the home of Genevieve Cap Classique. This is a joint venture - Leon is a viticulturist and he specialises in growing grapes for the CC and he is involved in all stages of grape production, preparing the land, pruning, pest control, fertilization, irrigation and much more!

Today we are not only here to taste the wines but we are invited to lunch. Again the South African hospitality is so warm and welcoming and we are treated to a wonderful lunch with Genevieve CC wines helping to make it a memorable occasion!

There is a new release here - 2013 Blanc de Blancs. This is a very interesting concept as normally sparkling wines are drunk young but this wine proves that CC can be kept for over 10 years. The colour of the 2013 is considerably darker than the younger vintages but the wine itself is very interesting and the taste is slightly more complex than her younger wines. But still delicious and would pair well with roast meats and even a sticky dessert!

It is great to sit around a table with Melissa and Leon - they are both warm hosts and make you feel so welcome.

Or drink on its own to celibrate anything!
Genevieve CC a perfect pairing with food
